Below are the Hunter guides we have reviewed (well, reviewed and thought good enough to even bother posting). They are reviewed based on speed, maps, quests, videos, and general level of detail to create the overall rank of each guide. The guides also show you where to train your pets and though they use Beast Mastery, they do not leave you high and dry if you'd like to go Marks or Survival.
Hunters have a choice between three talent trees, Marksmanship, Beast Mastery or Survival. No matter which tree a Hunter decides to specialize in, every Hunter enjoys the benefits of a combat pet and effective ranged melee DPS (by using guns or bows). The Hunter gains their Combat Pet after they pick a wild beast and tame it. After they tame their pet, a Hunter will need to keep their pet fed and happy to keep them loyal. There are a variety of pets within Azeroth, with different strengths and weaknesses. The combat pet you choose will depend on what your personal preference is. Each Hunter enjoys the pet(s) they have chosen for different reasons. Hunters should always keep a distance from their enemy because they are not very effective at close range combat.
Hunter's need to watch their health bar and their mana, but they also need to focus on their pet's health as well. The Hunter can reduce aggro on them by utilizing Feign Death, which can be helpful when the Hunter has low health. Also, especially in raid situations, a Hunter needs to watch where their pet is and whether they are on passive, defensive or aggressive. To prevent a runaway pet, and a potential group wipe - sometimes it is best to keep your combat pet on passive. Besides being able to tame pets to maximize their DPS output, Hunters can also track animals as well. Their tracking abilities can prove extremely useful.
The Hunter class is very popular, and is available to numerous races. The following races can choose Hunter as a class: Night Elves, Dwarves, Orcs, Tauren, Trolls, Blood Elves, or Dranei. No matter the race, all Hunter's are able to wear Mail armor (available at level 40) and can choose from a large variety of weapons. The type of weapon a Hunter chooses will depend on player preference and style. Hunter's are great at soloing and they can deliver some major damage to enemies. They are a great addition to raid groups, and can be devastating in a PvP setting as well. Hunter's need to remember they are vulnerable to silence due to the fact that they do utilize mana for some of their abilities.

Hunters are a master of traps. Traps can be used while soloing, in a group setting or in PvP to slow down enemies. Hunters also have different Aspects. Though they have an array of different aspects, only one may be active at a time. They have many different uses and ways in which they aide the Hunter. A skill that is extremely useful is gained at level 20, and that is the Dual Wield talent. Now, they can maximize benefits from one-handed weapons by equipping two at once.
With the Wrath expansion, came some beneficial changes to the Hunter class. For Hunters who have opted to align with Beast Mastery, they are able to tame exotic beasts throughout Azeroth. Hunters' Pets also gained Tenacity, which allowed them almost a tanking like ability. This proves to be extremely helpful when the Hunter is soloing.
Zygor's Alliance Leveling Guide
- Overall:10/10 Not only is this the best overall Alliance guide it is also the best overall Hunter guide. Hunters are in luck. Many guides are based around hunters because of their great ability to solo. This guide not only shows you the fastest way to level but also the most efficient ways to spend your talent points and where/which pets to trains to keep them as strong as possible.
- Speed:10/10 This is certainly the fastest guide available to level your hunter (out of the ones we have had a chance to review anyhow, and I think most tend to agree with this). Zygor provides screen shots and videos to prove how fast his guide can level your new alliance toon.
- Maps:10/10 This guide shows you through maps where to go for every step. It circles areas if things roam/pat. Very good maps for a hunter.
- Quests:10/10 The guide provides details on many of the quests and links off to Allakhazam for more details. Very well done.
- Videos:10/10 Considering the entire run from 1-85 is recorded, the videos are as detailed as can be. They are broken up and also include separate videos for some of the more complicated fights.
- Overall:8.5/10 Overall this is a great guide. It is also a little cheaper than some of the other guides out there. What it lacks in videos and map details it makes up in speed and quest details. OVerall it is a very good guide and an excellent alternative to Zygor's Alliance guide.
- Speed:8/10 A great speed guide. Not much more to say about this. Any hunter will be happy with the results.
- Quests:9/10 The Killer guides hunter guide provides great quests that are fun and efficient. The guide shows you where to go and what to do for each quest. Very effective.
- Overall:9/10 This is the best guide on how to make extra gold and learn other various tricks and tips. It isn't a leveling guide but it does provide information on how to make the most out of your Alliance chars.
- Speed:10/10 The Ultimiate Gold Guide is as fast as can be I guess. It teaches you how to make more gold pretty fast... so what's not to like?
- Maps:8/10 Well, the guide provides great detail on where to farm several money making items.
