Priests These Priest guides are intended to help you level your Priest as efficiently as possible. We try to stay unbiased in our reviews, but this can be difficult. Some guides simply are better than others. We try to provide the best ones for you regardless of if you want to be Discipline, Holy, or melt some faces as a Shadow Priest.

Priests are always in high demand. As primary healers, Priests have a wide variety of healing spells, as well as talents that ensure the protection of their group or even the Priest himself. The Priest class is available to a number of races, including Humans, Dwarves, Night Elves, Undead, Trolls, Blood Elves, and Draenei.

The Priest is limited to cloth armor, but with practice one can master increased survivability utilizing shields and their wide range of healing spells. The Priest has the ability to use One-Handed Maces, Daggers, Staves, and Wands. Some of the important abilities a Priest holds includes Cure Disease and Dispel Magic. These are possible must haves in a Raid to keep the group alive during certain encounters.

Though extremely successful healers, Priests are also a fantastic DPS class. When a Priest decides to spec into their Shadow tree they gain abilities that can wreck their opponents. Mind Control is a trick that is used in a number of encounters, and Shadowform not only increases the Priest's damage, it also replenishes other group members' mana. A Shadow Priest's DoTs (damage over time) can be devastating, especially in a PvP setting.

As far as healing goes, Priests are not just effective single target healers. They also can successfully fill the role of a group healer, and they can be depended on for resurrection and HoTs (heals over time). The most important stats for a Priest to seek out when choosing gear, and enchantments would be intellect, spirit, spellpower, stamina and spell crit.

The three talent trees for a Priest are Discipline, Holy and Shadow. In the Discipline tree, Priests can choose to spec to Penance which is an extremely effective heal spell. The Discipline tree also holds a Priests' "Power Words" which includes "Power Word:Shield" which can be a lifesaver in tricky situations.
