Rogue is a class that offers the player quick, effective close hand combat. If you're looking for a class that is fast paced, this is certainly the class to consider. Rogues are very efficient against casters who have low HP. The Rogue can utilize the element of surprise with their stealth ability. Available to Gnomes, Humans, Dwarves, Night Elves, Blood Elves, Orcs, Undead, and Trolls... Rogues are pretty common. However, those who master this class and are able to unleash its incredible potential, will certainly stand out. Whether you're interested in solely PvP, or PvE, or a little bit of both; the Rogue is a favorite for melee for a reason.

rogue leveling advice
Assassination, Combat and Subtlety are the three talent trees of the Rogue class. They speak for themselves as far as what types of abilities are going to be available to the Rogue. No matter which you choose, it's going to come down to perfecting a spec that compliments your play style and helps you maximize your damage output and take out your opponent very effectively. One of the tools the Rogue will utilize is their ability to basically go invisible with Stealth. Enemies their level and down are subject to the Rogue's element of surprise on the battlefield.

Rogues are plentiful in the different PvP battlegrounds, but skill is a must. The adrenaline from the fast paced play style will keep you on your toes, and motivate you to constantly familiarize yourself with multiple aspects of the class. Especially in PvP (or an effective means of crowd control in a variety of instances), the Rogue has multiple ways to incapacitate their foes. Their abilities coupled with the poisons they can access, can stun and damage. Poisons will be a Rogues' best friend, and it certainly helps them keep a top spot in PvP.

At level 20 they are able to use poisons. They can purchase poisons from different vendors spread across Azeroth. Another way to incapacitate their enemies besides Stun and Poisons, is Gouge. It's a popular method of rendering their enemy vulnerable, and it is very useful in PvP. Rogue's are known for their Sap ability. Seeing it is rather commonly sought out for crowd control on mobs in instances. Sap can also be used on enemies in PvP, it's a great way to stop spellcasters who are extremely vulnerable to the Rogue and their stealth. Other abilities the Rogue can utilize are Cheap Shot and Kidney Shot, they can be utterly devastating.

In terms of Gear, Rogues should seek out Agility and Stamina. Due to the fact that the Rogue is limited to Leather armor, Stamina lends itself to higher survivability. Also considering survivability and the lack of a heal spell, Rogues should consider maxing out their First Aid and utilizing bandages to heal in PvP or while soloing, this will be a major benefit. Besides Gear, there are enchantments that a Rogue can use to increase their Stealth. Obviously, Glyphs should also be thought through by the player because it can certainly maximize their abilities. Also while looking for gear, glyphs and enchantments, it's good to keep in mind that Rogues do not use mana. Instead, the Rogue has an energy bar. A little similar to a Warrior's Rage, Rogues can build their energy through use of abilities during a fight. This will also cause them to stack combo points which then opens up the Rogue to use their devastating finishing moves.

Thinking on poisons, there are talents in the Assassination talent tree that increase the efficacy of a Rogue's poisons. Also, it should be noted that faster off hand weapons have the ability to increase the speed at which poisons are applied. This can be favorable to the Rogue, depending on what they have chosen to do. Also, in terms of speed... Rogues enjoy numerous instant attacks. These include Sinister Strike, Backstab and Mutilate. An ability that all Rogues appreciate and devastate their opponents is Expose Armor. This finishing move reduces a foe's armor class and increase the Rogue's damage output. Rupture and garrote are not subject to armor class, and therefore can be devastating no matter who the Rogue is facing.

The Rogue has a variety of weapons they can equip. It should be noted that at level 10, the Rogue is able to Dual Wield. The different weapons the Rogue can choose from include Daggers, Swords, Maces, Fist Weapons, Thrown weapons, Guns, Bows, and Crossbows. Rogues are able to specialize in weapons which then compliments the weapons they choose. Besides their skill with weapons, Rogues have another skill they need to pay attention to. Lockpicking is a skill unique to the Rogue and always in high demand, whether for lockboxes or even doors to higher level instances. As the Rogue levels, they should be leveling their lockpicking as well. It should be maxed. By level 85, the Rogue's lockpicking ability can be maxed to 400. Other group members and many people throughout Azeroth will seek out the Rogue's lockpicking skill. No matter what you decide to do with your Rogue, it is pretty well accepted that the Rogue can be an admirable opponent in PvP and a wrecking ball with DPS if you learn how to work the class. It's certainly worth it.
